New salt and pepper mills from Alessi store
On Thursday we went back to Omegna to the Alessi store so I could get the salt mill to match the pepper mill I bought a few weeks ago.  They were quite a bargain.  I paid about a third of what they cost online.  I love them!  We stopped in Stresa on the way back and had lunch before stopping at the Bennet for groceries as we returned home.  It is a long drive to Alessi, over an hour, but Gene didn't complain.  In the past our leased cars got about 30mpg but our new BMW is getting less than 20mpg.  It does much better on the autostrada but we do a lot of stop and go driving which keeps the mpg down.  Every time we fill the tank it is over E100 and it seems we fill the tank a lot.  Gene went to the hardware store last week and purchased some durable two way tape to attach our front license plate to the front of the car.  The front of the car is curved and the rectangular license plate doesn't want to stick except for the middle of the plate.  It is hanging on though and we think it will be OK if we don't go to the auto-lavaggio again.

We had some rain on Thursday and it rained the whole day on Friday.  It really cooled off and the high humidity is gone for a while.   We have had some very noisy neighbors who started yelling and playing very loud music from noon until after midnight.  We are really hoping they leave today.  In the next few days we plan to take the ferry to Bellagio.  Yes we have been there countless times but it is always fun to visit.  We also plan to drive to Torino where we have not been.  We are very tired of driving the 25K to Como on the narrow roads but don't have a choice if we are going in a certain direction such as going to the Bennet, Omegna, Milano, Torino and Switzerland.  We plan to visit Anna in Milano in the next week or two.  We will drive to Como and then take the train to her house.  We also plan to go to Lugano with her.  She will show us around Franklin College where she teaches.  Looking forward to it.
One more thing to tell.  My drying clothes ended up in the pool again.  I had to wake Gene from his nap to help me get the rack out of the pool.  Neither of us was very happy!

Ciao,   Joan
